Bio

Justin is a triple threat performer originally from Saskatchewan, Canada. As a musician Justin completed his Grade 10 RCM Piano Exam with first class honors and competed at the provincial level in both piano and voice. In addition, Justin won best performance by a solo artist 3 years in a row as well as the best vocal performance at the Saskatchewan Valley Music Festival. Justin also sang in top choirs performing all over Canada, and was cast in leading roles at a young age in notable productions like Evelyn Oakleigh – Anything Goes, The Padre – Man of La Mancha, and The Cat in the Hat – Seussical the Musical. Justin went on to graduate with a Bachelor of Music from Canadian Mennonite University in Winnipeg, focusing on Collaborative Piano, Classical Voice, Musical Theatre, Dance, and Acting. While studying, Justin landed the role of Bernardo in CMU’s production of West Side Story.

Upon graduation from CMU, Justin auditioned for Opera Nuova during their nationwide audition tour and was selected to be a part of the six week opera intensive for emerging Canadian artists. Justin was then offered a generous scholarship to attend New York Film Academy’s musical theatre program in New York City.  He also received a scholarship to attend the improv for actors program at Second City Toronto.

Some of Justin’s notable roles include Dr. Neville Craven in Broadway Workshop Theatre’s production of The Secret Garden under the direction of Marc Tumminelli, and assistant director, Stephanie Fittro. He also had the pleasure of performing in two benefit concerts alongside Broadway sensation, Loni Ackerman, all in honor of the musical theatre genius, Stephen Sondheim, directed by Thom Christopher Warren. Justin also played the Prince/Villager in Rainboy Stage’s summer production of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast. He later returned to the Broadway Workshop Theatre to play the role of Professor Callahan in their production of Legally Blonde: The Musical, under the direction of Marc Tumminelli, choreographed by Casey Leigh Thompson. Once again Justin was cast as the leading man, Link Larkin, in Ivoryton Playhouse’s summer production of Hairspray. Other credits include: A Little Opera on the Prairie’s touring production of Isis and the 7 Scorpions, playing the roles of David Sands, Osiris, and the Scorpions; singing during the Lighting of the Christmas Tree at the Rockefeller Center in New York City alongside Neil Diamond, Michael Buble, and Katherine McPhee; and performing at Carnegie Hall with the New York Pops Orchestra, conducted by Steven Reineke in concerts such as Wishing You a Swingin’ Christmas, featuring John Pizzarelli and Jessica Molaskey, and Jim Henson’s Musical World, featuring the  entire cast of the Muppets and Sesame Street.

Justin has also had a very successful career on film and TV and in commercials. He starred in the following short films while living in New York City: The Priest, The Girl from Across the Street, When the Music is Over, and Tyco Parks the Car. Justin the starred in a College Humor short film, Batsh*t Crazy Acting Teacher, and was also featured in an episode of Evil I: The Skull Collector, as the character James Farris on Discovery ID. He has booked three national commercials including: Blackberry 10 (web), Nature Clean (HGTV Canada), and Grand Marnier.

Currently, you will find Justin shining brightly on the newly popular youtube channel the Gay Men Channel. He first worked with Sarah and Adrianna, co-creators of the wildly successful Gay Women Channel, while shooting the viral parody video First Gay Hug.  Shortly after, they came together to launch the Gay Men Channel.  Justin now stars as the host of #gayforjustin, a weekly video in which he discusses current events, trends, and anything related to the gay world.

Justin currently resides in Toronto, Ontario, working as an actor, singer, dancer, and model. Justin has now made a mark for himself in both New York City and Toronto, and is passionate about continuing to act, sing, and dance full time in both cities.
